Timbaland Ft. Drake – Say Something (New Video)

This song actually grew on me at first listen.  Aside from Timbaland’s consistent and weird facial expressions the video is decent and the song will stay in your head.  This year Drake was the go-to guy for a song collabo, but it’s looking like he’ll be the new hook guy in 2010 as well.  Much love to ya Drizzy.  Say Something is the second single off of Shock Value II.

Usher – Raymond VS Raymond (Official Album Cover)

Peep the new album cover from Usher forthcoming album Raymond vs Raymond, set to drop on March 1st 2010.  I bet this album got even more confessions.

Memphis Bleek Is Back With A New Album

Rapper Memphis Bleek is back to business with a new album, record label and a distribution deal. The Brooklyn rapper is looking to release his fifth album titled The Process through his own label Get Low Records and Mass Appeal Entertainment.  Jay-Z is the executive producer of the album, and production includes Just Blaze and No I.D.   Here’s what he had to say in an interview with AllHipHop:

The Process has been exactly that; a process. Taking what I’ve learned from a teacher and creating my own school. It’s time for me to handle my own business as a man and Mass Appeal supports the vision. I’m ready to share The Process and Get Low Records with the world and along with Mass Appeal, I’m excited to take the next steps in my career independently”.

The Process is scheduled for release on November 24th.

Jay-Z Guards His Blueprint 3

The works of Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 is under iron-clad protection and Jigga will even see to it that his tracks won’t leak on internet.  The album is set to drop on September 11th.  Sources say he also intends on personally delivering the album to the Atlantic Records in London.

“Jay is looking forward to showing off the fruits of his studio time and decided the best thing to do was take the album himself to London. Every time a big artist has new music ready these days someone some- where is always keen to pinch it and whack it on the Internet. Adding, “Jay is very protective and smart and doesn’t want fans to hear tracks which aren’t quite right. He wants to give the record to the label in the UK and see which songs go down best to give him ideas about single releases.”

This should be interesting.

Spotlight – SHAD

Shad

Shad

Meet Shad K, a dope canadian hip hop artist. A lot of people may not know this, but his 2005 debut album When This Is Over was self made and financed with the money ($17,500) he won from 91.5 The Beat’s Rhythm of the Future talent competition during he was a student and undergraduate at Wilfrid Laurier University. He’s also an accomplished freestyler with the ability to drop flows at the drop of a hat.

In 2007, Shad was signed to Black Box Recordings and soon released his second album, The Old Prince in 2008. His style has been compared to K-OS and Common, all having a laid back swagger and precise delivery. One of my personal favourite tracks is, “I Don’t Really Like To” from his latest album. K'NAAN'S New Album – TROUBADOUR

K'naan - Troubadour

K'naan - Troubadour

K’naan’s new album drops tomorrow (February 24, 2009) in a music store near you. The Somali-Canadian rapper has some notable skills when it comes to his delivery. This dude could be signed to Shady/Aftermath today and he could show them what’s good.

When I first him heard the track “Strugglin”, I couldn’t help but notice that K’naan sounds like Eminem for some strange reason. But apparently I wasn’t the only one, because he’s been compared to Em throughout his career. But the subject content isn’t even close. K’naan talks about his experiences growing up in a Third world country, which is a far cry from what most people are used to. This album entitled Troubadour will be K’naan’s third ablum to date. I would cop it. Check out K’naan’s myspace at http://www.myspace.com/knaanmusic.
